Zinfandel is Lodi’s “Truth”, and truth is one of the guiding principles of Rotary International. “Zin” was first planted in Lodi during the California Gold Rush of the 1800’s and is the genesis of Lodi’s booming wine industry.

Its personality comes from 50 to 100 year old vines that produce flavors of sweet cherries, blackberries and earthy spice. A true Lodi Zinfandel – fruit forward with jammy characteristics and a long, robust finish.

Our Story

In 2010 the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club conceptualized a Rotary-themed wine label as a way to thank donors for significant donations to help fund larger community service projects locally and around the world. 10 years later, in March of 2020, the State of California ordered a COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown that would send many non-profit and community organizations into a tailspin including The Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club (of Lodi, California). We were forced to cancel our major fundraisers including two years of our Tour Delle Vigne cycling tour (May 2020, 2021) and our Beer Booth fundraiser at the Lodi Grape Festival (September 2020).

Faced with 18 months of no fundraising, the club revisited the idea of creating a Rotary-themed wine label born in the heart of the Lodi Wine Appellation. The "fruit" of that innovation are now the Four Way Wines! These vintages will become a fundraising gift for the Rotary Clubs of District 5220, which conducts local and international community service projects across California, the United States and the world! Rotary International is the largest service club in the world boasting over 1.2 million members!

Our Inspiration

The Rotary International Four-Way Test is the inspiration for our catalog of fine wines. The test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian guide for Rotarians to use in their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at every club meeting:

Of the things we think, say or do..

  • Is it the TRUTH?

  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?

  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Each of our Wines reflect one of the elements of the Four Way Test, the guiding principles of rotary, the objects of Rotary and/or the Rotary Motto of "Service above Self".

Lodi is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located in the Central Valley of California and ecompassing southern Sacramento County and northern San Joaquin County, boundaried by US Interstate 5 to the west and the borders of adjacent El Dorado, Amador and Calaveras Counties.

Lodi has been long known as a wine growing region dating back to the 1850's when wild grapes grew along the edge of rivers which led some trappers and locals to refer to the Calaveras River as "Wine Creek".

The Lodi AVA is best known for its Old Vine Zinfandel, but also produces a large quantities of Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

In 2015 Lodi was named Wine Enthusiast Magazine's "Wine Region of the Year" citing Lodi's innovation and growth, specifically from 8 wineries in 1990 to over 85 wineries in 2015. In addition more than 100 grape varieties are now grown in the Lodi AVA which has grabbed international attention for the quality of the new wines made from its legendary old Zinfandel vines and a profusion of young, diverse grape varieties. Lodi's next generation of family grape farmers are credited for the innovation!

In 2020 Lodi's own Michael David Winery was named as Wine Enthusiast Magazine's "American Winery of the Year" recognizing the Phillips family’s successes and outstanding service to consumers, the wine trade and the Lodi winegrowing community. Brothers David Phillips (CEO) and Michael Phillips (President and charter member of our Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club) are sixth-generation Lodi wine producers.
